Muhammad Mosque
One of the most ancient monuments in town! Unfortunately, the mosque isn’t open to the public, so you can’t go inside. However, I recommend seeing it from the outside regardless because you’ll not only witness one of the most ancient structures still standing in the city today, but there’s also a really cool view of the Flame Towers from there.

Flame Towers
The history of Baku, with its cult of fire worship provided the inspiration for the design, which consists of three flame-shaped towers, each with a different function, set in a triangular shape are visible from many parts of the city. Baku Flame Towers are a symbol of the historic past and the future strength and potential of Azerbaijan. The design was conceived as a set of flames, driven from the ground up one of the main hills of Baku. Fire symbolizes energy and eternity, and also goes back to the ancient worship of this element.

Little Venice
Charming and relaxing space made of several waterways and bridges! To be honest, while this is a great spot to visit if you have some time to kill while strolling the Baku Boulevard, it’s not really worth a dedicated visit on its own. With that said, it is quite a refreshing experience to be rowing in the water next to the Caspian Sea.

Highland Park
“Viewing Square” It truly offers the most breathtaking and magnificent views of the Caspian Sea, the iconic Flame Towers, and the entire city. There are also benches all around the large viewing platform, and the atmosphere there is super peaceful and relaxing. You can sit down, chill, and chat with some friendly locals before moving on to other parts of the park.

Fountain Square
Tons of restaurants, shops, cafés, and bars! Another thing you’ll love about the capital of Azerbaijan is that it’s got a very relaxing and upbeat vibe to it. In fact, one of the unmissable activities in Baku is to visit Fountain Square. Things to do there are endless, from shopping for souvenirs to people-watching. The good news is that some of the best restaurants in town are also located around this square, so make sure to sample the best of the local cuisine while you’re there!

Dağüstü Fountain

Maiden Tower
This mysterious but iconic tapered tower appears in many Azeri fairytales and legends. It is the oldest structure in Baku’s old walled city. No one is entirely sure when it was built, or for what purpose, or even the origins of the name. Yet this mysterious and curious tower is a symbol of Azerbaijan’s capital city and even appears on the national currency, the Azerbaijani manat. Many experts believe the tower was completed in the 12th century, along with most of the medieval walled city. But the different appearance of the stones that form the foundation and the first three stories suggests the original structure may date as far back as 600 BC.
